I rented an Enfield 500 in India about a year ago. Interesting experience...
I saw a few of the 325 cc diesel Enfields while there. They get phenomenal mileage (about 125 miles per gallon) but are very low power - about 6 HP (a stock Savage has about 30 HP) and had a top speed of maybe 60 KPH (35 mph). Indians buy them because diesel is half the price of gasoline there.
One owner I talked to said they aren't very nice to ride since the vibration is so bad that he can’t stand riding it for more than twenty minutes at a time. You'd see them in the flat farming plains but never in the more hilly areas or places with a lot of traffic - they were just too slow.
